Balconies at Columbus House, Retirement Complex

When the South Wight Housing Association decided to replace the balustrade on the balconies, walkways and stairways at Columbus House, they were looking for a maintenance-free product to keep long-term costs down.

Made from PVC compound, Fitrite fencing does not rot, warp, splinter or require the rolling maintenance associated with timber alternatives. Just a quick wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent will keep it looking good as new, year after year.

The balustrade comes in a variety of styles and colour finishes, in-keeping with any environment. In the case of Columbus House, the client chose a woodgrain foil to reflect the balustrade that had previously been in place.

Retirement Home Balustrade

Fitrite fencing was supplied for the 2 and 3 storey retirement complex of 30 flats, which included 21 balconies, 12 walkways, 3 staircases and 1 entrance bridge that provided disabled access. Due to the easy-to-install nature of the product the project took only 6 weeks to complete keeping disruption to residents to an absolute minimum.

“We are very happy with the results of the refurbishment at Columbus House. The new balustrade supplied by Fitrite has not only revitalised the appearance of the complex, but its low-maintenance attributes will continue to benefit the residents and the Housing Association long into the future. We would definitely recommend the product for future projects.”
